Elysia rolled her eyes when she noticed Eden’s wounds had finally healed.

While she felt gratitude toward Eden for worrying, she also had impulsive thoughts.

‘Who cares about who now’

Avoiding Eden’s gaze that was more intense than the violet (flower), Elysia’s gaze slowly moved downward.

His neck to his ankles.

A malnourished body greeted Elysia’s eyes.

It was a terrible sight to see that his neck and his ankle, where he was bound, were where he was thinnest.

Elysia felt sympathy toward a boy who was worrying about her instead of himself.

Whileher head was down, she secretly closed her eyes and gulped a bitter taste.

Because she was more tired than usual, her nerves were on edge.

Eden’s concern for Elysia was only the beginning of it all.

From then on, a few people around the manor asked the same question, albeit with different wording.

“My Lady, I think it’s best if you retire for the day…”

Rachel one day suggested.

Her face held an apologetic look as she said it.

Rachel became the Head Maid soon thereafter, and because she was new to the huge responsibility resting on her shoulders, she made frequent mistakes and was still immature.

And due to this, Elysia often helped her.

Which was why Rachel misunderstood that she was responsible and the reason for Elysia’s fatigue.

Elysia couldn’t flatly reject her, so she instead denied it.

“I’m alright.”

Rachel was quick to adapt.

Far from reprimanding Rachel, Elysia wanted to compliment her for adapting well to her new responsibilities, having adjusted quickly in just less than a week.

The twelve-year old girl had deep dark circles under her eyes.

Only Elysia, the person involved, was not aware of it.

***

Six days had passed since the day before the magic class when Elysia had last seen Eden.

At the end of her morning class, Elysia tidied her desk and got up.

She was about to have her lunch.

‘After this, I’m going to visit Eden… Wait, come to think of it, how long has it been since I last saw Ariel’

Elysia knew Ariel’s everyday schedule through Rachel, however the last time Elysia personally saw her was when they met in the garden.

Elysia quickly cursed herself that she was only one (body).

However, Ariel was aware that her older sister was occupied, and so she did not bother visiting her.

Elysia couldn’t believe that Ariel was doing well taking care of herself.

But Elysia felt uncomfortable, as she felt she was lacking as an older sister for Ariel.

Elysia continued to blame herself, even as she failed to notice that more than ten of her clothing articles had already been taken away.

After she ate her lunch, Elysia headed to the annex.

Suddenly, the exterior of the annex caught Elysia’s eyes.

At the same time, blue hair fluttering in the wind captured Elysia’s view.

Rizbeth turned her head and looked at Elysia.

As if Rizbeth exactly knew when Elysia would come.

“…….”

As soon as they locked eyes, Rizbeth frowned.

Rizbeth’s merciless frown made Elysia assume that she was the annoying one in her sight.

“My Lady.”

“Oh”

“Please go back and just rest for today.”

“I’m okay…”

“Your complexion tells me otherwise.”

Rizbeth insisted while blocking the door of the annex with her body.

Rizbeth gave off an intimidating aura that even Elysia couldn’t rebuke.

Instead of rebuking her, Elysia scratched her cheek and looked at her.

“Do I really look that bad”

Do I really

Rizbeth seemed furious and spoke offensive words and actions to Elysia earlier, yet kept her mouth closed to say no more.

Rizbeth was also a daughter of a noble family.

She knew the lives of nobles better than anyone else.

The majority of the nobles received their quality education at an early age, and oftentimes, they would inherit their parents’ work and responsibilities.

And perhaps, Elysia belonged to both the former and the latter.

Before Rizbeth acted as the gatekeeper of the annex, she often saw professors in and out of the manor alternating between the morning and the afternoon.

And Rizbeth was well-acquainted with how high the standards and requirements Elysia’s professors demanded of her.

Rizbeth didn’t care at that time.

“If you’re having a hard time, say you’re having a hard time.”

Rizbeth didn’t exactly ask Elysia to tell her.

Moreover, Rizbeth herself did not completely believe that Elysia would trust her enough to open up.

So Rizbeth just wanted to let her know to be open to herself if she was having a hard time and just live moderately and diligently.

It was complicated.

The more Rizbeth got to know Elysia, the more she couldn’t truly know her.

– Is it safe for you to visit here from time to time

Rizbeth one day inquired.

– What

– If the Duke comes…

– He won’t.

Elysia gave a firm response, without volunteering any evidence to support her words.

Rizbeth had given her life to Elysia in exchange for taking care of her sibling’s illness.

In other words, even if Elysia was discovered by the Duke and Rizbeth would die, Rizbeth wouldn’t resent anyone.

Rizbeth knew this, but she still felt anxious.

– I promise you my words.

I can’t tell you why, but I assure you.

Elysa meant not to ask what her basis was.

– I’ll be more careful next time if I see any signs of Duke Valt- no, I mean, if my father’s coming.

I give you my word.

-…….

– Don’t worry.

For the first time, Rizbeth witnessed a child who was younger than her, look more reliable.

The conversation that day ended there.
